Lighthouse Ukraine

We create places for encounters

Lighthouse Ukraine is a tested format for a meeting day that brings together refugees and people who wish to help. The event offers space for cultural exchange, workshops and discussions on topics such as integration and migration, and for direct assistance. Lighthouse Ukraine is accompanied by a stage programme with cultural offerings and performances by Ukrainian artists. The concept has already proven itself in more than ten cities in five countries and had more than 25,000 participants in spring 2022. Over 70 percent of them were refugees from Ukraine. Over 100 NGOs, Ukrainian culture creatives, state institutions, activists, private companies and academics were involved in the panel discussions. This broad support helps to make Lighthouse Ukraine a place of encounter at eye level. In addition, organisations from administration and business offer direct access to help with issues such as finding housing and work, health care, daycare, school and much more.

A day of encounter for refugees and helpers

For the implementation of the event, a Lighthouse Ukraine manual was developed. It contains an elaborated concept of the encounter day with many tips and practical experience: from hints on defining the goals and the target groups, to structuring the work packages and the programme, to developing a successful project plan and accompanying communication, and much more. Alliance4Ukraine supported the first Lighthouse Ukraine in Berlin and took over the lead project management for the second Lighthouse Ukraine as well as the coordination and distribution of the overall concept in other cities. In addition, the Alliance4Ukraine Fund secured the initial funding for all the other Lighthouse Ukraine events as well as comprehensive funding for the two major events in Berlin.
